The idea sparked from a client's cherished memories of time spent amidst the verdant expanse of the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by these tales, James embarked upon a trip to the heart of the Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon. He was overcome with the sensation of feeling like he was in an entirely different world. This experience served as a major source of inspiration for his design and he knew immediately that the space needed to transport you to an enchanting blend of reality and fantasy. The sight of towering trees, the sensation of a fresh Oregon rain, the scent of wet earth, and the soft dance of mist all combined to create a spellbinding experience. The forest wasn't just a backdrop; it became the very soul of the dining room.
Design Choices – Crafting The Tale
Backdrop of Dreams: The walls are adorned with a forest mural, a creation commissioned by Jay Iarussi, setting the stage for the narrative.
Reflections of Nature: The Hawaii mirrors from Cattelan Italia are reminiscent of rainwater puddles and they bridge the gap between nature and man-made wonders.
The Heart of the Room: Taracea’s Kobe dining table anchors the space with its raw charm and a split tree trunk supporting an aged iron top. This is complemented by chairs that invitingly welcome your presence.
Light and Rain: James commissioned custom lighting from Cattelan Italia, because he wanted to mimic droplets and evoke the sensation of rain indoors.
Touches of History: The rug, an ode to the Kalapuya tribe, and Bernhardt’s rustic yet elegant Mackintosh Credenza add layers to our tale.
